This Mother’s Day, we embarked on a floral exploration through Auckland's lively streets, immersing ourselves in the creativity of two exceptional florists. With a delightful array of seasonal blooms and Oceans products at their disposal, these talented artisans showcased their unique Mother’s Day arrangements. Tell us a bit about your brand and what you do.
“Oh, we’re famous out west!” chuckled Phillipa and Eric, their eyes twinkling with pride. “For 20 years, we’ve been weaving magic with flowers, crafting bespoke arrangements for every occasion under the sun. But we’re not just about flowers,” Phillipa added, gesturing towards shelves adorned with treasures. “We believe in curating experiences, offering an abundance of gifts, candles, balloons, and more.”
What flowers have you showcased in your Mother’s Day arrangement and what is their significance?
We have used orchids, chrysanthemums, roses, caspia complemented by cascading ferns. “The chrysanthemums lend a touch of tradition,” explained Eric, “while the orchids... well, they’re simply divine, aren’t they?”
What seasonal flowers are you loving right now?
Beautiful blooming orchids are our favourite at the moment, and all the colours are just so delightful.
Tell us which Oceans Floral products you cannot live without, and which Oceans products were used in your Mother’s Day arrangement?
“Ah, the essentials!” laughed Phillipa. “From ties to wires, we’ve got them all.” But our true love lies in Oceans’ coloured Kraft paper, ribbons, and Pearlwrap. For this arrangement, the Brown/Lavender Kraft paper worked wonders, seamlessly blending with our blooms.

“I have adorned my Mother’s Day masterpiece with roses, gerberas, and chrysanthemums.” says Nicky. “Tradition meets modernity,” she mused amidst a sea of pinks and peaches. “Gone are the days of a single white bloom; today, we paint with a palette as boundless as imagination itself.”
What seasonal flowers are you loving right now?
"Spring brings such joy with its colourful blooms and fragrant scents," Nicky remarks warmly. "There's a lovely variety out there right now, from the striking proteas to the charming lisianthus." With excitement she shares her favourite, "Personally, I'm drawn to the cheerful hues of lisianthus."

“The Mod boxes, the heart-shaped vessels... they’re the canvas for my creations,” Nicky confessed. And for this Mother’s Day, the heart-shaped box stole the show, alongside the posy vase.
